The Karnataka Schools Parents’ Association held a protest at the office of the Commissioner of Public Instruction demanding action against a private state syllabus school which issued transfer certificates to three students last month for not paying their fees.

Several parents and children raised slogans and carried placards. Parents of the students who received the TCs had gone to the High Court over excess fees charged by Apollo Public School in Hegganahalli.

On May 2, the association had protested in front of the residence of the Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait. Sait had signed a letter saying that the school would be asked to take the three students back.

The protesting parents said that the school had not taken back the students. Commissioner Sowjanya met parents and school authorities. “The parents say that they paid the fees according to what was prescribed by the District Education Regulating Authority. The school says that parents have not paid fees according to the interim order of the high court. We  will take a decision after going through the documents submitted by the parties,” she said.

In a letter to one of the parents, the school has written, “According to the high court order, you have to pay the fee as prescribed by the school management. However, you have not paid the fee and hence we are issuing the transfer certificate.”
