National leaders will pick candidates for polls: Yeddyurappa

Last Updated 08 May 2017, 20:01 IST

BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa said on Monday that the party’s national leaders and national president Amit Shah would pick the candidates for the next Assembly elections.

They would conduct a survey in one or two phases, before announcing the names of the candidates.

Speaking to reporters here, Yeddyurappa refused to react to the statement by JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy that there would soon be a split in the BJP. He said, Kumaraswamy should set his house in order before commenting on others.

The former chief minister said he would start a tour of the districts, accompanied by leaders of the respective districts, on May 18 and prepare the party for the Assembly elections.

Yeddyurappa said the state government had failed to come to the aid of the people during the drought.
