JOIN USAgainst the back drop of increasing scrutiny and rising protectionist sentiment in the US, employees of American IT major Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS) alleged that the firm is ready to sack hundreds of techies without offering them any benefit.
Following a petition by the Forum for IT Employees (FITE), Telangana Labour Department officials on Thursday met with the representatives of Cognizant and sacked employees. The employees of the IT major have alleged that they have been illegally sacked.
Joint Commissioner of Labour R Chandrasekhar said that the department, based on the petition, has called both sides for discussions, and it is a routine affair and the department will soon sort it out. There will be another meeting on May 26.
“The sacked employees submitted their grievances. However, Cognizant said that there were no layoffs, but only performance appraisals,” he said.
