Indian cricketer and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player Mandeep Singh has been married to his girlfriend Jagdeep Jaswal for four months now.

The couple dated for over a year before they decided to tie the knot. Jagdeep, who has accompanied Mandeep on the IPL tour this season, confesses that she has found a good partner in him. Born and raised in England, Jagdeep, recalls that she would visit India during her vacations just to stay in touch with the culture and get to know her family members better.

She met Mandeep through a cousin and thus began the relationship which she describes as meaningful. In an interview with Nina C George, Jagdeep talks about their courtship,
marriage and  the IPL.

How did you meet Mandeep?

It was more than a year ago when I came from England on a holiday to my hometown in Jalandhar when I was introduced to Mandeep by my cousin. Mandeep is my cousin’s classmate. When I heard that he is an Indian cricketer and an IPL player, I was curious and began following him on Twitter and social media.

What do you like most about Mandeep?

He is a very down to earth person and has no ego.

How long did the two of you date before deciding to get married?

It was definitely not love at first sight. We first spoke for a bit, and a year later, started dating. We took our time to get to know each other before we decided to get married.

Has anything changed after marriage?

Mandeep is exactly the same. The only difference is that we have now started living together.

What interests do the two of you have in common?

Music tops the list. We also love watching movies. My favourite Bollywood actor is Aamir Khan, and I am sure Mandeep couldn’t agree more on that.

What do you like about the IPL?

The atmosphere, the music and the energy during the IPL matches is thrilling.

Do you get to spend time with the other players in the RCB team and their families?

Yes, I get to hang out with the other players in the RCB team. I’ve only watched Virat and Chris Gayle on television. Now, knowing them in person has been a wonderful experience.

What is your profession?

I am a makeup artist. I have always loved make up. I was about 13 or 14 years old when I started wearing makeup. I love to work with different colours and shades to create something unique.

You have lived in England all your life. How did you manage to stay in touch with your roots?

My parents are from Punjab and relocated to England in 1970. I was born and raised in England but every year my parents would make it a point to bring me back to India, just to make me understand the culture and the way of life and to get to know my family members better.
