Two women swindle 60-gram gold chain from elderly woman

Two unidentified women robbed a 65-year-old woman of her gold chain worth Rs 1.75 lakh, in the city, on Sunday. Bhagyamma, a resident of Medar Block in the city, is the woman who lost her 60 gm gold chain. When Bhagyamma was heading towards market in Nanjumalige to purchase vegetables at 8 am, a woman, introduced herself to Bhagyamma and befriended her.

After a while, another woman joined them and said that she has lost her purse, containing valuables in it, and raised suspicion against them. After arguing for a few minutes, she had told them to prove their innocence. When Bhagyamma refused to do so, she threatened Bhagyamma of calling the police.

When Bhagyamma relented, she took them to ‘Aralikatte’, in Chamundipuram. The women asked Bhagyamma and the other woman to remove mangalsutras and tied it in their sarees and took a oath.Bhagyamma and the first woman left the spot in an autorickshaw and reached Thulasidasappa Hospital on JLB Road. On their arrival, the woman left the place in a car and Bhagyamma headed towards her house walking. While on her way home, Bhagyamma noticed her chain missing and found some powder in a piece of paper tied to her saree.  K R Police are investigating the case.
