SIT probing Anurag Tiwari's death to question friend

Last Updated 19 May 2017, 17:31 IST
The Special Investigating Team (SIT) probing the ''mystery'' behind the death of Karnataka cadre IAS officer Anurag Tiwari, would question his friend P.N.Singh, an IAS officer, who reportedly stayed in the same room at the government guest house with Tiwari on the night before his body was found.

According to the sources in the police, the SIT would be submitting its report to the government within 72-hours. The probe team, sources said, inspected the room where Tiwari had been staying as well as the spot, where his body was found. Sources said that there was no CCTV footage showing Tiwari's departure from the guest house. Incidentally the guest house also did not have any record if any one had visited the Karnataka cadre IAS officer during his stay.

''The investigation is on,'' quipped a police official when queried about the probe on Friday. Tiwari's family members have raised questions over the investigation and demanded a CBI probe into his death. Tiwari, who was commissioner, food, civil supplies and consumer affairs department in Karnataka, was found dead here on Wednesday. His body was found lying on the side of the road a few metres away from the Meerabai Guest House. The postmortem examination of Tiwari's body remained inconclusive prompting the doctors to preserve his viscera and heart for forensic tests.
