Parvathamma's condition still 'critical', say doctors

The condition of veteran Kannada film producer Parvathamma Rajkumar, wife of the late thespian Rajkumar, continues to be critical. Doctors treating her, however, said that her condition was better on Friday.

Doctors said that Parvathamma has been breathing partially on her own on Friday. They said she might continue to be on ventilator for at least next 48 hours.

“As long as somebody is on ventilator, they cannot be out of danger,” said Dr Sanjay Kulkarni, chief physician, M S Ramaiah Hospital.

Although her vital parametres are within the normal limits, doctors are concerned about the functioning of her organs. According to the doctors, she had malignancy a few years back, which has metastasized (development of secondary malignant growths at a distance from a primary site of cancer). She is being constantly monitored as her dialysis is still continuing and her liver functions are compromised.

Parvathamma’s son and actor Shivarajkumar and Rajkumar’s sister Nagamma visited her in the hospital on Friday. She was hospitalised on May 14 after she complained of breathing problem.
