Thieves steal Rs 6.5L from two cars

 Thieves smashed the windows of a car and made away with Rs 5 lakh cash from its glove compartment in Bagalagunte, off Peenya on Thursday afternoon.

According to the police, around 2 pm, Ramakrishna of Nelamangala came to the Bagalagunte branch of Central Bank of India and withdrew Rs 5 lakh. He put the cash in the car’s glove compartment and drove towards Ayappa Swamy temple.

He parked the car, locked it and went to meet his friend. When he returned after 15 minutes, he noticed that his car’s windows were broken and the cash was missing. He immediately dialled 100 and summoned the police. The police arrived and conducted inquiries. They also retrieved CCTV footage from the area where the car was parked. Ramakrishna’s friend whom he had met near the Ayappa Swamy temple is being questioned, the police said.

In another incident, unidentified men broke open the windows of a car parked on the Ramanagaram taluk office premises on Friday and made away with Rs 1.5 lakh cash and a debit card. A few minutes later, they withdrew Rs 40,000 from an ATM in Bidadi using the debit card, the police said.

The victim, Chikkegowda of Hunasanahalli had gone to the taluk office on an official work after parking his car at the parking lot.

The incident came to light when he returned to the car to take the cash and found that the window panes of the car was smashed and the cash bag in the dashboard was missing. The Ijoor police have registered a case and are verifying CCTV footage of the ATM kiosk to identify the culprits.
