Hundreds meet CM to redress grievances during Janasamparka

Officials, police instructed to resolve issues

 Hundreds of people, including youths, elderly people and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s friends aired their grievances during a mass contact programme at the Government Guest House in the city on Saturday.

A group of physically-challenged people who run petty shops, complained that the police have filed cases against them because of which authorities of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) are issuing threats to vacate their shops. The complainants also asked the Chief Minister to sanction sites to them.

Siddaramaiah asked the authorities concerned to take measures to resolve their problems.
 Kalyanamma, an elderly woman from Belagola in Srirangapatna of Mandya district, who met Siddaramaiah said that her daughter and son-in-law had abandoned her after usurping her farmland. She said even the police are not registering a complaint in this regard. The Chief Minister directed the in-charge Inspector General of Police (Southern Range) and Mysuru City Police Commissioner A S Rao to direct the police officer concerned to solve the issue.

The Chief Minister issued a cheque for Rs 2 lakh as compensation to Harshal’s parents. Harshal had succumbed to burn injuries in a fire at Shadanahalli in the taluk recently. Harshal’s parents Jhansi and Murthy received the cheque.

M K Mahadeva, 42, who has served 14 years in jail on charges of murder, urged the Chief Minister to grant him a loan to start a business. Mahadeva was released based on his good conduct on January 26. Siddaramaiah directed the authorities to extend a loan from the Dr B R Ambedkar Development Corporation.

N G Sanjeevan, a retired public prosecutor and Siddaramaiah’s LLB classmate, met him requesting help to secure arrears from the government. Sanjeevan, who served as PP for nine years, has not received arrears for the past four years.

PWD Minister H C Mahadevappa, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader, MP R Dhruvanarayan, MLAs Vasu and M K Somashekar, Regional Commissioner M V Jayanti, Deputy Commissioner D Randeep, City Police Commissioner Dr A S Rao and district level officials were also present.
