Estranged boy friend dies in acid attack by girl

In an unusual incident of revenge, a jilted pharmacy student resorted to acid attack on her estranged lover leading to his death in Venigandla of Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh.

According to Pedakakani police, K Hima Bindu, 21, invited her estranged friend Md Ilyas, 23, who is married to another girl, on Monday. She asked him to bring all the correspondence and the videos, photos and records related to her so that they can have a final settlement.

Ilyas's close relative Khasim accompanied him but stayed outside the house hoping that the two would have a candid talk. However, after an hour Ilyas came running out of the house screaming. Khasim and the villagers called an ambulance and shifted him to Guntur Government hospital where he succumbed to severe burn injuries on Wednesday.

At the hospital, Ilyas wrote on a piece of paper that Bindu had poured acid in his mouth. During the scuffle, even Hima Bindu received acid burns on her legs and hands. The accused is absconding, the police has formed two teams to hunt for her. A murder case has been registered.

A shocked Allabakshu, elder brother of Ilyas said that they came to know about the affair only after Ilyas marriage on Monday. “She came and said that Ilyas has cheated her by marrying another girl. I begged her not to create ruckus at the function and she assured me that she would calmly walk out and she did. But a day after she took revenge rendering an innocent bride a widow,” he said.
