Come Saturday, there will be one more attraction that will beckon tourists to the Heritage City. The musical fountain at Kuppanna Park, which used to be functional only during special occasions like the flower show, is being reintroduced on a daily basis so that tourists can enjoy watching the fountain dance to popular tunes.

The fountain will dance to the tune of 32 songs of various languages in two segments between 7 pm and 8.30 pm. Deputy Director for Horticulture Manjunath said that at present, the fountain will run on a trial basis and will be extended depending on the response it garners from visitors. “After completion of construction work of the Glass House in January 2018, the park will be opened for visitors. The fountain was set up at a cost of Rs 55 lakh out of the Rs 100 crore Chief Minister’s grant to the Mysuru City Corporation in 2011. Initially, MCC used to maintain the fountain and it was handed over to the Horticulture department in 2014-15 financial year,” he said.

The automated fountain has been designed to dance in effects such as wedding cake, peacock, high-jet, mist blowers, rainbow, water cascading, etc. MLA M K Somashekar will inaugurate the musical fountain on Saturday. The entrance fee is nominal at Rs 10 for children between five and 12 years of age and Rs 20 for adults, the DD said.
