Talented Karthik Sharma picked up his third title of the season after completing an emphatic victory in the IGU Yes Bank Karnataka Junior Boys Golf Championship here on Friday.

The West Bengal kid, who had all but secured the title after opening up a huge 10-shot lead, ensured the win by the same margin after carding a decent one-under 71 for a tournament total of 280 at the Eagleton Golf Resort.

Chinmaya Mahajan made the biggest move of the final round, carding a fine four-under 68 to sign off second at 290 while Raghav Chugh, a Category B player, ended overall third (292) following a 71.

Despite knowing that victory was his unless something catastrophic happened, Kartik hardly took things for granted. He started cautiously before firing birdies on the sixth and eighth holes to take the turn at two-under and leave his rivals further behind.

He lost concentration at that moment, dropping bogeys on the 11th and 12th. He, however, recovered quickly and then sank a birdie on the 16th and parred the remaining two holes to score a huge win.

Leading scores (after 72 holes): Category A&B: 280: Kartik Sharma (70, 68, 71, 71); 290: Chinmaya Mahajan (75, 76, 71, 68); 292: Raghav Chugh (77, 72, 72, 71); 296: Sandeep Yadav (77, 74, 72, 73), Harshjeet Singh Sethie (69, 73, 77, 77).

Category B: 292: Raghav Chugh; 298: Pratyush Sharma (78, 75, 72, 73); 303: Yashvardhan Singh (77, 74, 74, 78).
