Army recruitment rally: 3,200 candidates take part in physical fitness test

Out of 5,500 candidates registered for army recruitment rally, 3,200 candidates have taken part in the physical fitness test. The rally is being held at General Thimmayya Stadium in Madikeri, said Brigadier P S Bajwa.

Briefing reporters here on Wednesday, he said the written test will be held in the month of July.

The candidates will be selected on the basis of merit and will join various regiments during September end. The rally will be held till June 2 and is likely to be attended by 400 aspirants. Out of 1,071 candidates registered from Kodagu, 700 have taken part in the physical fitness test, he informed.

Stating that candidates have not made preparations for the rally, he said that 80% of participants could not reach the target in the race. The rally is being held in a transparent manner, he added.

Visit to memorial

Major General Nijhar visited General Thimmayya Museum Bhavan on Wednesday and collected information on the ongoing work. Retired Major Nanjappa said the memorial will showcase the achievement of General Thimmayya.

It will have models of military tanker, war aircraft, and vehicles used by General Thimmayya. Major General Nijhar said that old war materials will be sent to the museum within three months. DC Richard Vincent D’Souza, Nirmithi Kendra project director Sachin and others were present.
