C'magalur achieves 7.8 pc progress in monsoon sowing

Of the target fixed for 1,57,890 hectare land this monsoon, sowing has been done in 12,275 hectares, he informed.

Sowing should be done for crops like paddy, raagi, jowar, toor dal, urad dal, sesame, mustard, ground nut, sun flower, soyabean, tobacco, cotton, sugarcane etc in an area of 24,630 hectare in Chikmagalur taluk, out of which, sowing has been done only in 2,180 hectare land, he explained.

Since paddy is being grown in Malnad areas like Mudigere, Koppa, Sringeri, Narasimharajapura, sowing is yet to start there. Of the 40,700 hectare target in Tarikere taluk, sowing has been completed in 1,370 hectare land. Of the 66,210 hectare specified land in Kadur taluk, sowing has been done in 8,725 hectre.

The district has a demand for 21,752 tonne fertiliser including DAP, MOP and Uria, and the district has received 21,675 tonne so far. KSMF has a storage of 2,887 tonne DAP, 365 tonne NPK, 967 tonne MOP, 1,135 tonne Uria, Thippesh informed.
