Last Updated 02 June 2017, 19:18 IST

A BJP delegation on Friday submitted a petition to Governor Vajubhai Vala seeking directions to the state government to initiate action against the Congress MLA from Rajarajeshwarinagar constituency Munirathna, for ‘attacking’ women corporators.

The delegation comprising leader of the Opposition in the BBMP Council Padmanabha Reddy, MLC Tara Anuradha, BJP co-spokesperson Malavika Avinash and corporator Mamatha Vasudeva met the governor at Raj Bhavan and submitted the petition that contained reports as well as pictures of the attacks.

They urged the governor to discuss the issue with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood for appropriate action against the MLA.

“We have requested the governor to direct the chief minister to initiate action against Munirathna. The MLA and his supporters use goondas to attack those who raise objections against low quality works in the constituency. We have sought protection from his atrocities,” Padmanabha Reddy told reporters after submitting the petition. “Law and order situation has completely collapsed in the state. Elected representatives are being attacked in daylight.

Manjula Narayanswamy, a corporator, was attacked in the presence of the chief minister at a function recently.
Munirathna and his supporters have attacked many women corporators. We have sought stern action against such acts," he added.
