At 99.6, CBSE Class X pass percentage like last year's

The pass percentage in the Central Board of Secondary Education Class X has dipped nationally by about 5% since last year, while it has remained almost the same in the Chennai region.

The Chennai region, which includes Karnataka, ranks second among the CBSE’s 10 regions, with a pass percentage of 99.62 as against 99.69 in 2016.

Of the 1,78,468 students who appeared for the exams in the region, 1,77,784 cleared them.In Bengaluru, a large number of students scored a 10-point cumulative grade point average (CGPA), with several schools showing 100% passes.At the Kendriya Vidyalaya, DRDO, 60 of 178 students got 10 CGPA. Of 207 students from Sri Kumaran Children’s Home, 47 scored similarly.

In DPS (North), 119 students of 398 got the perfect score, while in DPS (East), 135 of 316 students got similar scores.

Param Milind Agarwal, a student of KV DRDO, is among the many who got 10 CGPA. “I was confident. I just made sure I was consistent and revised my lessons on time,” he said. But he was worried about admission to Class XI since the results were delayed.

Kajal Jain of Siddaganga Public School, who also scored 10 CGPA, said, “My teachers told me I could call them even at midnight if I had any doubts,” she said.
