McGann incident: report sought on veracity of footage

A day after a video showing an elderly woman dragging her ailing husband on the floor to the scanning room in McGann hospital went viral, the director of Shivamogga Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) has approached the police seeking a report on the authenticity of the footage.

“It seems to be a planned incident and the action lasted only for a few seconds. Later, the man was taken to the scanning room in a wheelchair. We suspect Murali Nayak, the relative of a patient in the hospital, may have been instigated by someone to record the incident and post it on WhatsApp to tarnish the image of the hospital,” SIMS director B V Sushil Kumar said.

Meanwhile, one more nurse named Chetan Kumari was suspended on Saturday in connection with the incident. Three nurses and an attender were suspended on Friday.
