3 killed as minibus carrying wedding guests runs amok

Three people were killed and 13 others wounded when a minibus rear-ended a sports utility vehicle (SUV) before crashing into a motorcycle near Nandagudi in Hoskote taluk, Bengaluru Rural district, around 8.30 pm on Saturday, police said.

Among the deceased are two people who were travelling to Katamnallur, east Bengaluru, to attend a wedding reception. The third victim is the motorcyclist.

S R Nagaraju, 28, and N K Thyagaraj, 30), both from Siddanahalli, were part of a 15-member group that was on its way to attend the reception. The minibus driver is said to have been rash and negligent when the vehicle rear-ended the SUV, crashed into the motorcycle and then toppled.

The motorcyclist
The man on the motorcycle, Shivashankar, 20, died on the spot. He hailed from Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh, and was residing at Mallemakanapura village in Hoskote taluk.

He worked for a private company. The injured have been identified as Sharadamma, a resident of Chintamani, Venkatappa, Rajanna, Lakshmmma,  Devaraj, Subramani, Naveen, Saraswathi, Muni Kempanna, Sharada, Narayanaswamy, Praveen Kumar and Srinivas Gowda, all residents of Siddanahalli.

They are being treated at the government hospital in Hoskote. Three of the injured were travelling in the SUV.
