Auto sales zoom in March

Maruti Suzuki has posted a total sales of 95,123 units as against 85,669 units in the same period last year with its domestic sales at 79,530 units versus 73,855 units and exports at 15,593 units against 11,814 units year-on-year (YoY) basis.

Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of commercial and passenger vehicles in March 2010 were 75,151 vehicles, a growth of 38 per cent over 54,452 vehicles sold in the same month of 2009.  Domestic sales were 71,046 nos, a 35 per cent growth over 52,653 nos sold in March 2009. 

Relflecting the positive trend, General Motors (GM) reported a two-fold jump in sales at 11,330 units, which is its highest ever in a month since inception. The company sold 3,266 units of the hatchback Spark, sedan Cruze 715 units and 4,508 units of the latest compact car Beat in March 2010. Ford India reported an over three-fold jump in its March sales at 9,478 units against 3,127 units in the same month a year ago.

Toyota Kirloskar  Motor sold a total of 6,905 units in March 2010 against 3,634 vehicles during the same period last year, up  90 per cent making it the highest monthly sales for the year.  Hyundai, on the other hand reported a total sales of 55,035 units against 46,159 in the same period a year ago, up 19.23 per cent.
