The VSSN elections evoked great zeal and interest across the district because of the possible decisive role it may play during the DCC Bank elections.

A member taking two ballot papers from the bank created a bit of drama during the polls. However, eight directors were elected for the Bank. M C Basavaraj, the JD(S) candidate won the election hands down.

M C Basavaraj and Madhu Kumar contested for the post of President. On a tip off that two BJP members have shifted loyalty, BJP-backed candidate Madhu Kumar walked out of the polling centre with his and another member Doddamma’s ballot papers.

Discovering the fact, Jaya Karnataka District President Anil Kumar arrived in the spot and started creating noise over the issue. When Basavaraj did not pay any heed to the request of the police, he was later sent out of the premises forcefully. Situation turned tense for a while because of this incident.

Though two members remained absent, Election Officer and Bank Managing Director Suresh Kumar said that it will make no difference to the quorum and held the polls.

JD(S) candidate Madhu Kumar secured 6 votes out of a total strength of 9 while BJP-backed candidate Madhu Kumar secured one vote.

With Basavaraj being elected as the President a festive mood broke out among his followers who rejoiced bursting crackers.
