Parents donate eyes of 18-month-old

In an act of kindness, the parents of a 18-month-old child donated its eyes to an eye bank here after it died falling into a sump.

Eshan, son of Ragavendra and Roopa, residents of Ghantikeri in Hubballi, slipped into a sump in their house and drowned on Thursday evening.

The boy was rushed to the hospital, where he failed to respond to treatment and died. On Friday, the parents decided to donate the eyes of the boy to the Dr M M Joshi Eye Institute here, and they were harnessed in the evening.
