Sampige Rd-Rajajinagar Metro services disrupted for 30 minutes

Last Updated 09 June 2017, 20:06 IST

A technical glitch disrupted Metro services between Sampige Road and Rajajinagar for half an hour on Friday, forcing the authorities to shut down operations and refund the fare to commuters.

The train from Nagasandra arrived at Srirampuram station but did not move for over five minutes. As the doors remained open, passengers started asking around as to when the train will reach the destination.

“We were first told that the train will leave in five minutes. Later, it was announced that the service will be delayed further and we have to evacuate. The digital boards inside started displaying ‘EMERGENCY- this service may be delayed’,”  a passenger on board the train said.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) public relations officer U A Vasanth Rao said the “electrical problem” occurred at 11.20 am. “There was no evacuation as the trains were at the respective platforms when the glitch happened. Refund of fare was made to those passengers who had boarded the train,” he said.

Rao said the services resumed  at 11.56 am. “The disruption in service was for about 26 minutes,” he said, noting that the train service between Nagasandra to Rajajinagar was not affected and trains were plying as per the schedule.
