Corporator and Congress leader Prathibha Kulai has challenged MP Nalin Kumar Kateel to comment on the distribution of notebooks by Hebbal legislator Narayanaswamy with the BJP symbol, and photos of the MLA and his wife printed on the books.

The MP had objected to and criticised MLA B A Mohiuddin Bava for distributing notebooks to children at all schools in his constituency with his photographs printed on them.

Briefing media persons here, Prathibha Kulai said that Mohiuddin Bava had been distributing notebooks in the past. “There is no political motive in it. There are no photographs of development works initiated by the MLA in the notebooks as alleged by the BJP. There are only photographs of the MLA with the schoolchildren on the books,” she clarified.

The corporator said that the notebooks are useful for the schoolchildren. Children do not exercise franchise. Further, the photographs were printed to ensure that children have fair knowledge on their local legislator.

“If the BJP leaders want, they too can distribute notebooks and umbrellas to schoolchildren. Bava will distribute notebooks to needy students from not only his constituency, but also other parts of the district. If anyone wishes to get notebooks, he or she can contact the MLA’s office,” she added.
