Office couple trapped by Lokayukta

When contacted Lokayukta SP S E D’Souza told Deccan Herald that Jayalakshmi, secretary of Tumbala Gram Panchayat and her husband B C Dharmanayaka, block health instructor, Primary Health Centre, Yelwal were trapped during the raid.

Dharmanayaka on behalf of his wife had demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 from Santosh of Indira Nagar in Mysore to issue a no objection certificate (NOC) for storing fire crackers in Tumbala. However, the amount was finalised to Rs 30,000. Two days ago, Dharmanayaka had collected Rs 10,000. On Thursday, Santosh had lodged a complaint with Lokayukta SP.
On Friday, the couple was caught while accepting the remaining amount at their residence in Yelwal on the outskirts of Mysore. The team consisted Dy SP Hanumantharayappa, Inspectors Gopalakrishna and Jayaram (Chamarajanagar) and others.
