The Indiranagar police are on the hunt for a gang of eve-teasers which harassed a woman by touching her inappropriately on the pretext of helping her.

The incident came to the knowledge of the police when the woman, a native of Bihar who had come to the city for a training programme, approached them to lodge a complaint.

She told the police that she was walking with her friend on CMH Road when a group of men passing by hurled a rubber lizard on her and later touched her inappropriately on the pretext of removing the lizard that had got stuck to her clothing. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening.

Realising their intention later, the victim filed a complaint with the police seeking action against the gang. Based on her complaint, the police rushed to the spot, but the suspects had fled by then. The police have obtained a few clues about the suspects based on their physical description obtained from shopkeepers nearby and also from the CCTV footage of the incident.

Meanwhile, DCP (East) Ajay Hilori told DH that he was unaware of any lizard-hurling incident involving a woman.

“A woman, while going to her office situated on the top floor of a building on CMH Road, was waiting for the lift, when an unknown man approached her and tried to grab her.

“While she screamed and raised an alarm, the man instantly fled the spot. A case of molestation has been registered and our men are on the job,” added Hilori.
