Security beefed up for President's visit

Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the visit of President Pranab Mukherjee upon his arrival to the district on Sunday.

Security has been beefed up all over the district. The President would arrive at Bajpe International Airport in an IAF Plane and he will take an IAF chopper to reach the helipad at Adi Udupi at 11.25 am. He will later proceed to Inspection Bungalow at Bannanje.

The President will pay a visit to Sri Krishna Temple at 12 noon and will later lay the foundation stone for the construction of BRS Health and Research Institute Super Speciality Hospital at Rajangana after offering prayers to Lord Krishna and visiting Paryaya Sri Pejawar mutt seer Sri Vishvesha Theertha Swami.

The programme at Rajangana is expected to get over by 1.30 pm and the President will proceed back to Inspection Bungalow. He will later leave for Kollur Mookambika Temple at 2.25 pm and reach Kollur at 3.40 pm. At Kollur, he will be offering prayers till 4.10 pm and seek blessings from Sri Kollur Mookambika. He will reach Udupi 5.25 pm and will leave for Mangaluru in the IAF plane at 5.30 pm.

Sources at Sri Krishna temple told DH that there no special prayers will be held as all the prayers at the temple will be over by 8.30 am. Unlike all other temples, the Paryaya seer will be the priest offering prayers to Lord Krishna. Hence, the seer should be present to welcome the president. The President will have the Darshan of Lord Krishna.

He will spend some time with Pejawar seer and other seers. Pejawar seer will given him Prasada and blessings. The President will be honoured by the seer along with all other seers of Ashta mutts.

The temple managing trustee Harish Kumar M Shetty from Kollur Mookambika Temple said that the President will be honoured traditionally with Poorna Kumbha Swagatha at the entrance. Besides, he will be offering prayers to Goddess Mookambika following the Darshan. He will be offering Sarvalankara Pooje to the Goddess due to time constraints. The managing trustee who had been to Rastrapathi Bhavan on June 8 to invite the president was directed to offer Sarvalankara Pooje.
