Disney Channel is all set to reintroduce the younger generation to ancient Tamil literature — Thirukkural, with the first ever animated TV series based on this celebrated text written by noted Tamil poet, Sri Thiruvalluvar. The series developed as animal fables by Accel Animation Studios, Chennai, is titled ‘Ek Tha Jungle’ and presented in 3D format. Says Devika Prabhu, Associate Director, Programming, Walt Disney Television International India, “‘Ek Tha Jungle’ is one of the many steps that we will take to enliven Indian storytelling heritage, which continues to remain thoroughly entertaining and equally relevant to modern day India.” Set for a premiere on Disney Channel on April 5 at 9.30 am (Monday to Thursday), every episode showcases a universal theme and strong life lessons. Some popular stories include ‘The Clever Monkey’, ‘The Helping Bear’and ‘The Rabbit and the Tortoise’.   


Comeback on television
Sanjeeda Sheikh will soon be seen in the serial, ‘Jaane Pehchane Se Yeh Ajnabee’, aired on Star One from Monday to Friday at 8.30 pm. The popular romantic drama has had a highpoint with the lead character, Ayesha (played by Aditi Tailang) being killed. Dispelling rumours that Sanjeeda Sheikh will play Ayesha’s role, she instead makes her comeback as Radhika Singhania. Her character is an extrovert and independent fashion designer who becomes a part of the Vardhan family through Veer. She has begun shooting and is elated to be a part of the popular show as the character has many surprises in store for the audience.


Engineering marvels
 ‘Mega Engineering’ on the Discovery Channel takes you inside monumental future build projects, for a high stakes look at tomorrow’s extreme engineering. Using visually spectacular CGI, the show presents the high tech obstacles that must be overcome and how technology is advancing today to accommodate the needs of these jaw-dropping structures of tomorrow. In one of its interesting episodes, ‘Mile High Skyscraper’, the plan is to build the world’s tallest tower and first moving, breathing building in Shanghai. Watch the show on April 7 at 10 pm.
