Four sentenced in MIM Legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi murder attempt case

Amidst tight security, the criminal courts here in Nampally on Thursday convicted four out of the 14 accused in the murder attempt case on MIM’s Chandrayangutta legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi.

The court while acquitting ten accused including main accused Mohammed Pahelwan, found Hassan Bin Omer, Abdullah Bin Yousuf, Awad Bin Younus, and Mohammed Bin Saleh Wahlan guilty and sentences them to 10 years of imprisonment and Rs 10,000 fine.

It was on 30 April 2011 that Akbaruddin Owaisi, younger brother of MIM Chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi was attacked in broad daylight while he was on his way to attend a party programme in Barkas under Chandrayangutta Assembly constituency.

With five deep cut injuries on the hands and three bullet injuries on the abdomen, Akbaruddin was rushed to the nearby Owaisi Hospital where he was later declared out of danger. Akbar fully recovered after a month long treatment and multiple surgeries at a corporate hospital in Banjara hills.

One person, 22 year old Ibrahim died during the attack when Mohammed Jani, the personal security officer of Malakpet MLA Balala, opened fire with his revolver and shot at the attackers.

Police registered a case against 15 persons including Mohammed Pahelwan and Hassan Pahelwan of a rival gang under sections, 307, 147, 148 and 326 sections of IPC. One of the 15 accused died during the past 6 years.
