Assurances by the AIADMK government that it would iron out all outstanding issues regarding GST went unheeded as more than 1,000 theatres in Tamil Nadu continued their shutdown for the second day.
The indefinite strike, called by the Tamil Nadu Film Chamber of Commerce, is also to ask the state government to abolish local taxes. Its president, Abirami Ramanathan, said the strike would continue until the government spells out its stance on the local tax imposed on theatres after the GST rollout.
