A 50-year-old home-alone woman was tied up and her house was looted by two people including a woman in Basaveshwaranagar on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at a house in Shakthiganapathi Nagar. The police arrested the suspects on Wednesday.

According to police, a woman knocked on Kavitha’s door. When Kavita opened it, the woman requested her to hire her as a domestic help. When Kavita told her she was not in need of a maid as she already had one, the woman asked for food. Kavita let her into the house, closed the door and asked her to sit, while she went to the kitchen to get some food. A few minutes later, Kavita heard another knock on the door. She opened it to find a man who asked for her son Anil. The victim told the man that Anil had gone to work and closed the door. The woman sitting inside had by then signalled to him that Kavita was alone in the house.

When Kavita again went to the kitchen, the woman opened the door to let the man in. He tied up Kavita and the two suspects fled with 32 gm of gold jewellery worth Rs 1.5 lakh and silver, police said. The Basaveshwaranagar police registered a case.
