In the probability of  her name ‘not being cleared’ for the post of state minister, Karandlaje may be offered the post of  BJP national mahila morcha president, sources in the party told Deccan Herald.

Karandlaje, known to be close to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, could not find a place in the BJP central office-bearers list released last month, even though she was said to be a strong contender for one of them. Barring senior party leader Ananth Kumar, no state leader landed a prominent job at the Centre.

“Karandlaje may be considered for the women’s wing chief,” said a party office-bearer. Some of the BJP MPs from Karnataka who were not happy with ‘very low’ representation from the State, said Karandlaje, a Vokkaliga, could somewhat mitigate the abysmal representation of the State in the Central office.

“Her name is doing the rounds, we heard the same,” they affirmed.
When contacted and asked about her possibility of  being women wing’s president, Karandlaje denied that she was in the race. “I am not interested. I am keen to be in the State for one more year,” she maintained.

In national capital
Karandlaje, however, said she would be in the national capital on April 21 to participate in the price rise rally on April 21 that aims to gherao the Parliament.
During her stay here, the Karnataka leader would be meeting senior partly leaders.
Before being the State Cabinet minister, she was the general secretary of the state BJP’s Mahila Morcha with responsibility to Udupi Wing.
Saroj Pandey, earlier, a strong contender to be BJP women wing’s chief, has already been  accommodated as the party’s national secretary. BJP is also to appoint a chief for its youth wing.
