Three youths drown in Shambhavi river

Three youths drowned in Shambhavi river at Mattu in Mulki on Sunday.

Two of the youngsters had been trying to save their friend from drowning.  According to the police, the dead are Kishore of Someshwara, Akshath of Kuthyaru and Mahesh from Mattu, who are all aged in their 20s.

Neglected warning

A group of 11 friends had visited one of their friends at Mattu on Sunday. After lunch, they went to the riverside and entered the water.

When Akshath sought help from his friends to save him from drowning, Mahesh and Kishore rushed to his help but were washed away too.

The locals, however, had warned the youths not to venture into water. The local youths and fishermen retrieved the bodies. A case has been registered.

Theft at Kinnigoli temple

Thieves gained entry into Sri Mookambike Temple at Guthakadu Shanthinagara in Kinnigoli and decamped with gold and silver ornaments.

The thieves broke open the door and took away a golden thali and silver items worth Rs 1.75 lakh.
A case has been registered in this regard.
