Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) has condemned the Police Department’s move to file case against Satyajit Surathkal and other Hindu leaders in connection with the stone pelting incident at B C Road which took place during the funeral procession of slain RSS activist Sharath Madiwala.
Speaking to media persons here on Monday, HJV district unit president Kishor Kumar said Satyajit Surathkal was supervising the procession and he led the procession peacefully till B C Road, Kaikamba.
But the Bantwal police, with a total of 50 personnel, raided his house at 2 am when only women were there and misbehaved with Satyajit’s wife and children. “We condemn the behaviour of the policemen. We strongly argue that the cases filed against Satyajit are false,” he claimed.
Protest warned
He warned of holding huge protests if the cases are not revoked. District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai and Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T Khader are safeguarding the culprits and are trying to suppress Hindu activists, he charged.
Satyajit Surathkal’s wife Savitha said there were no women police in the police team which raided their house. “The police were roaming around the house from 11.30 pm and knocked the door at 2 am. I was scared when I heard the door bell sound. The police knocked the window of my bedroom and asked to open the door. They told me that they have filed a case against my husband. I know that he has not committed any crime. He is a person who obeys law,” she added.
The policemen searched the house thoroughly, but they could not find Satyajit as he was not in the house. All the 50 policemen entered the house at a time. “I didn’t resist them, I have given answers to their questions,” she stated.
Karnataka South Zone HJV president Radhakrishna Adyanthaya said that it is an attempt to create Kashmir-like situation in Karnataka. Communal terrorists are trying to depict RSS as a communal organisation.
“We will not tolerate the raid on the houses of Hindu leaders,” he said. HJV district general secretary Subhash Padil and others were present on the occasion.
