Soon, Eshan Shanker hopes to be the name that echoes in Bollywood. <br /><br />He has past associations with Dharma Productions which allowed him to be an assistant for two films. Just a film old, Eshan is working rigorously to keep up his celebrity status. <br /><br />He took some time off between his dance and gymnastic training to chat with Anila Kurian about his journey so far. <br /><br />‘Machine’ was your debut film, how was the experience? <br /><br />I haven’t tasted stardom yet but this has definitely opened many doors for me. Since I have Abbas-Mastan’s name attached to my work now, I’ve been getting calls from directors and producers. I hope to work on my next project soon. <br /><br />You played a double role in the film...<br /><br />I play a boy-next-door and a commando. The physical appearances for both are very different. But the rehearsals helped when we finally started shooting. <br /><br /><br />You went through a lot of physical training for ‘Machine’. Did you ever feel like giving up? <br /><br />It’ll be a lie if I say no, but I had to pick up my strength and continue doing it. That’s what I am here for anyway.<br /><br />It’s an Abbas-Mustan film, not everyone gets that opportunity. So I couldn’t give up. <br /><br />It’s not your first step into Bollywood though. You’ve assisted directors in movies before this...<br /><br />I assisted the directors of ‘Gippi’ and ‘2 States’. That has helped me in learning certain techniques. I don’t have a film background, so this was a stepping stone to where I am now.<br /><br />Your dad always wanted you to be an actor. What did you want to become? <br /><br />To be honest, ever since I was seven or eight, I decided that I wanted to become an actor since my dad couldn‘t.<br /><br />So this came to me very naturally and I was always inclined to becoming an actor. <br /><br />You are known to be quite fashionable too. What’s your fashion mantra?<br /><br />It has to be <br />cool and trendy. But be yourself because that reflects in what you wear too. <br /><br />Where do you see yourself five years from now? <br /><br />I want to be seen doing bigger films and my acting would have improved by then. I want to get better at my dancing and be more flexible.<br /><br />I will also be a lot more mature to understand the situations around me. Whether the process along the way will be a success or failure, only the future will tell.</div>
