Shivam slams gutsy century

Southpaw's 144 hands Vice-President's XI edge

Shivam Mishra struck a patient ton as Vice-President’s XI wrested control of the their tie against Combined XI in the Safi Darashah tournament at Alur (3) ground on Sunday.

Vice-President’s batted first and piled a competitive 353 for six in their quota of 90 overs. Shivam top-scored with a knock of 144 off 211 balls studded with 13 hits to the fence.

Sujith NG (45) and Kunal Kapoor (42) also made valuable contributions with the bat for Vice-President’s XI.

Combined were in a spot of bother at stumps on day one having lost three wickets for 21 runs after eight overs. Mitrakant Yadav did the early damage, returning figures of two for seven.

In the other fixture, President’s XI continued their dominant form ending the opening day on 151 for one from 26 overs  after bowling Bangalore Zone out for 233.

Abhishek Reddy was unbeaten on 75.
