CM advocating separatism by seeking Karnataka flag, says Suresh Kumar

BJP leader and former minister Suresh Kumar has accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of advocating separatism by planning to design an official Karnataka flag at a time when elections are approaching.

The leader addressed reporters here on Wednesday after members of the BJP’s city and rural district units staged protests demanding the arrest of those responsible for the murder of RSS activist Sharath Madiwala. The party members also staged demonstrations at two different venues against banning of KFD and PFI and also opposing the transfer of IPS officer D Roopa who exposed irregularities in Parappana Agrahara Central Prisons.

Suresh Kumar said that like the BJP is not for separate state status for Kodagu, the party is against a separate flag for Karnataka. While the city unit members staged a protest at Gandhi Square, the rural unit members staged a protest in front of Gandhi’s bust near the District Court complex. Members of both units marched in a procession and submitted a memoranda at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

The agitators stated that the law and order situation in the state had collapsed in the past four years after Siddaramaiah formed the Congress government. “There is anarchy in Dakshina Kannada from at least two months. People are living under fear and insecurity. Normal life of the people has gone out of gear. During the past four years, 23 members of the Sangh Parivar have been brutally killed,” they said.

“The police have utterly failed in nabbing the culprits who killed Sharath Madiwala. Anti-social organisations, which are involved in spreading hate and are killing people who oppose their designs, are being encouraged. Of late, the conduct of the two ministers of Dakshina Kannada district provides enough proof for this conspiracy theory. Congress has become a mute spectator to the acts of these anti-social organisations as it is only eyeing its vote-bank. But, this will prove detrimental to the whole society and will harm all sections of the society, including those whom the Congress is claiming to protect,” they said.

“The Congress has hatched a conspiracy to demolish the Sangh Parivar. Parivar activists are being murdered brutally, but the culprits are going scott-free. We have confidence in the police force, but the police department is rendered helpless by political vested interests. The probe should likewise be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA),” Kumar said.

“Further, prisons should help reform criminals, but they have become hotels for influential convicts who can shell out money. Narcotics are smuggled into the prisons with the help of officials. Prisons are turning into breeding centres for criminals. Apart from the officials, the Congress ministers handling the departments should owe responsibility. Instead of protecting the whistleblowers, the government is bent on punishing them,” he said.
