Body not mine, says actress in nudity row

Sanjjanaa Galrani, featured in a nude video, said on Wednesday that only the face was hers and the body had been morphed. She told DH that the controversial scene, from the Kannada film Dandupalya 2, had computer-generated shots, which she described as ‘obscene.’

Sanjjanaa said the original scene was filmed with her draped in a towel. The film is a sequel to Dandupalya, and fictionalises the chilling story of a criminal gang.

The scene leaked on the Net shows her character being physically abused by the jail authorities. Sanjjanaa said the way the scene was shot was bold and justified from a story perspective, but how it turned out was something else.

“Someone has intentionally done it,” she said, referring to the leak. She said the director and producer were trying to find out who was responsible for the leak.

Earlier, people on whom the movie is purportedly based had opposed the way they were portrayed. They had protested against the release of the film and gone on a fast.

Directed by Srinivasa Raju, Dandupalya 2 hit screens on July 14. Its Telugu version is due for release later this week.
