Retain villages in Kadur, deputy commissioner requested

Zilla Panchayat member K R Mahesh Wadiyar has requested Deputy Commissioner G Satyavathi on Monday not to include villages which are at a distance of 15 km from Kadur in Ajjampura taluk.

“The people of 25 villages, including Giriyapura, Bislere, Basur and Kamanakere in Kadur taluk, have Kadur as their taluk centre. Most of the facilities such as hospital, offices and schools are concentrated in Kadur. If the taluk centre is shifted to Ajjampura, the villagers have to travel a distance of 25 km. Therefore, the villages should be excluded from Ajjampura,” Wadiyar explained.

“Kalkere, Asandi, Antaraghatte and Chowlahiriyuru villages have been dependent on Ajjampura and Tarikere for their day-to-day needs. Hence, these villages should be added to Ajjampura taluk,” the member said.

He, meanwhile, also requested the deputy commissioner not to close the gaushala as the drought situation still exists in Panchanahalli.

TP member Puttaswamy, villagers Lokeshappa, Krishnamurthy, Shivananjappa and Prabhakaramurthy were present as Wadiyar submitted the memorandum.
