Actor Aindrita Ray is more than happy to be shuttling between Kannada and Bengali films.

She recently had a slew of releases in Kannada like ‘John Jani Janardhan’, ‘Chowka and ‘Niruttara’ and these projects have seen her essaying unique roles.

The actor has always been sure about the kind of work that she wants to be known for.

Aindrita says she thoroughly enjoyed playing the role of a lively lass in her latest project ‘Garuda’. In an interview with Nina C George, the actor talks about why she has become choosy.

What made you sign ‘Garuda’?

I play the main lead in ‘Garuda’ and my character is important in taking the story forward. I play this lively girl who hails from Goa.

My portion of the film is entirely shot in Goa and even the songs that I appear in are an extension of my character. There’s a positive feeling about my character and the songs have a carnival-like feel to them.

What is the crux of the story?

The story is written around a murder which takes place in a family. There is a strong connect between the past and the present. How the characters evolve and the story progresses are heavily influenced by the events of the past.

This also means that the story is not all fantasy. It has a lot of real elements as well.

You have been working on a lot of comedy films. Is there a reason for choosing comedy-oriented projects?

Comedy requires good timing and I think I have a perfect sense of timing when it comes to comedy.

My first hit film was ‘Junglee’ which was a full-fledged comedy. I don’t like to restrict myself to any particular genre but want to experiment with as many roles as possible.

How do you manage your time between Kannada and Bengali projects?

There are some brilliant projects in both languages and I don’t want to miss out on working on them.

I have a few more projects lined up in Kannada which I can’t talk about because no formal announcement has been made.

Do you liked the rushed pace of work?

I want to have my hands full of work. I like the rushed pace and I have no complaints whatsoever.
