Sringeri to get Rs 1.5 cr for development of stadiums

Work on stadiums have commenced in 106 taluks

Speaking to presspersons, he said the work on stadiums have commenced in 106 taluks in the State. The work on stadium is nearing completion in 56 taluks.
He said a sum of Rs one crore will be given for the construction of sports hostel in the district. Handloom training centres have been started in Meguru, Gurige and Hulugaru. A 20-member team will be given training for a period of six months. All the trainees will be given a stipend of Rs 2,000 during the training. The produced clothes will be marketed by Handloom Corporation. Handloom stalls will be opened in every town, he added.

The trainees will be given a financial assistance of Rs 60,000 to construct house. The children of those who are undergoing training will be given scholarship of Rs 1,200. A mobile van will be provided to market the handloom products, he added.  MLA D S Jeevaraj said “a proposal has been sent to the government to start a garment factory.”

Revival of garments
The ambitious three garment centres which have been started with a view to generate employment is on verge of closure. Minister for Textiles, Youth Service and Sports Goolihatti D Shekar, MLA D N Jeevaraj held a meeting with the employees and discussed in length on the strategies to revive the garment centres.
Arjun garments in Koppa, N R Pura and Seethur are not functioning properly. Women are not give salary. It was decided to close Seethur unit and pay the salary of the employees. It was also decided to return the share capital of the SHG members who had invested money in the Koppa unit.
