As much as 17.46 lakh square meters of land has been acquired for the stretch from K R Puram to Nangadi border in Mulbagal taluk. While 2.51 lakh sq mtr of land has been acquired in Mulbagal, it is 7.56 lakh sq mtr in Kolar, 5.17 lakh sq mtr in Hoskote and 2.20 lakh sq mtr in K R Puram.

Compensation has been paid in 73.47 pc of cases in respect of Mulbagal, the percentage of compensation in payment in respect of rest of the cases is 81.06, 81.04 and 62.21 respectively.

Balance payment
Out of Rs 149.47 crore earmarked for payment of compensation, a sum of Rs 105.14 crore has already been disbursed. The balance of Rs 44.36 crore is yet to paid.
Similarly, owners of 24.55 pc of the acquired land are yet to identified. The office of the Land Acquisition Officer is making efforts to trace the owners. Assistant Commissioner and Land Acquisition Officer R S Peddappaiah told Deccan Herald that advertisements have been issued in respect of the lands for which owners have not been traced. However, the success has been partial. Hence, it has been decided to issue advertisement once more. “Some might have migrated to other places and some might have left the country itself. There are also possibilities of people hesitating to claim ownership in view of attracting Income Tax,” he said.

Meanwhile, as many as 1,200 owners have raised objections to the quantum of compensation determined by the government. They have filed their objections. The authority to revise the quantum has been delegated to the Deputy Commissioner.  The Deputy Commissioner of Bangalore Urban District will revise the compensation on priority basis in K R Puram limits while it is the Deputy Commissioner of Bangalore Urban District in case of Hoskote and Kolar Deputy Commissioner in respect of land acquired in Kolar and Mulbagal taluks.

Peddappaiah said that owners may or may not accept the hike in compensation effected by the Deputy Commissioner and can even approach the court. The cases where the owners are not traced, will be closed treating that there is no objection, he said.
