It was a very interesting and different fest, which stressed on molecular innovations in food processing and food safety management. Delegates from across the country along with various colleges participated in Jnanarjana-2010, which was inaugurated by Hartal Halappa, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies.

The event was on for two days and most students learnt and enjoyed a lot during the process. Though there were more technical sessions based on paper presentations by various delegates on food processing, there were other activities as well like model making, poster making and quiz, which were called as quick reflexes.

To top it all, there were some amazing cultural activities to wind up the day with joy and colour.

Western, Indian and fusion dance to some lovely instrumental and Bollywood numbers, skits on food safety and management, mimicry of famous personalities were performed both by the students and the staff. This helped the students bond well with students from other colleges as well as the teachers.

Prajna, a student of Christ College said, “I am happy that I attended this event for two reasons. Firstly, I learnt a lot of things about how food processing is one of the sunrise sectors in India and secondly, I am happy to have received a certificate for a national level symposium on food processing and safety management, which will help my career in the long run.”

Quiz and poster presentation, purely based on general science, were a quite a hit. A large number of students turned up to participate in these two events. Jerusha, a student from Adarsha College said, “The entire fest was good. I got to meet a lot of people from this industry who have made it to the top positions. After having a good interaction with them and listening to their experiences, I learnt so many things. It is very rare to be able meet people of such high calibre. Now I know what to do for my higher education.”

Oxford College of Science won the first and second place for quick reflexes. While T John College, Garden City College and Karnatak Science College, Dharwad won the first, second and third places respectively for model making competition.
