Last Updated 01 August 2017, 20:34 IST

The Almatti reservoir across River Krishna here has reached the maximum level of 519.6 metres. It is the first major dam in the state to reach the brim this year.

The storage in the dam is 123.081 tmc ft. The dam had reached the brim eight days ago, but the level started dipping as water was released to the Narayanpura dam in the downstream of the reservoir.

The inflow to the dam on Tuesday morning was 35,672 cusecs and outflow stands at 20,000 cusecs.

While a large portion of this is being released to the river through the power generation unit to produce 150 MW of electricity, 672 cusecs is being released for agriculture. Releasing 45,000 cusecs helps produce 290 MW. A few of the 26 crests are opened if the inflow increases to 45,000 cusecs.
