BJP gearing up for Amit Shah's visit to state from August 12

The state BJP is gearing up for party president Amit Shah’s three-day visit to the state starting August 12.

Arvind Menon, a close aide of Shah and one of the national convenors in the BJP, arrived in Bengaluru on Tuesday and held preparatory meetings with state unit functionaries.

Menon, a former RSS pracharak, is the national convenor of  “Departments and Projects”, a new post created by Shah after he took over as the party chief, in consultation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Shah’s visit gains significance as he is set to chalk out a preliminary election strategy for the state unit of the party for the Assembly polls.

“Shah will review the functioning of 19 departments in the party, including various morchas and cells besides 10 projects taken up by the party,” BJP general secretary Ravi Kumar told DH.

During his interaction with the state functionaries in Bengaluru, Menon said all the party cells, morchas and units will have to prepare a report on their activities and present status, which will have to be furnished to Shah during his visit. Menon provided the format and style which has to be adhered to while filing the reports.

Shah, apart from interacting with the party leaders and district and morcha presidents on the political scenario in the state, will also review the role of the BJP in taking forward projects of the Centre such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana among others. 

The state unit of the BJP will also be holding its two-day executive committee meeting from August 5 ahead of Shah’s visit. The meeting, scheduled to be held at Palace Grounds in Bengaluru, is likely to discuss various issues related to the state including demand for separate religion for Lingayat-Veerashaiva dharma, official status for state flag among others, party sources said.
