Karl Kubel Stiftung, an agency from Germany, which has funded the new Fit Institution for Girls, is committed to social development, its executive director Ralf Tepel said. The institution is being managed by Prajna Counselling Centre on behalf of the Women and Child Development Department.

Speaking after inaugurating the new building for the institution at Murkothpalke near Moodbidri, he said his agency is focusing more on the empowerment of women and children throughout the world, particularly in India. Lauding the services of Prajna Counselling Centre, he extended his cooperation to centre.

In his keynote address, Deputy Commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesha children should have realistic goals in their life and work hard towards achieving those goals. “An institution or person can provide them maximum support, but it cannot be 100%. Hence, the children have to make their own contribution and come up in life,” he said.

Belvai GP president Bhaskar Achayra congratulated Prajna Counselling Centre for coming up with a wonderful building for children. Women and Child Welfare department deputy director Sundar Poojary explained various government schemes and facilities available for children.

Souharda Trust founder Eric Correa, who donated two acres of land for the project, said he was happy that the land donated by him is being used for a good cause and that many children are going to be benefited from it.

Prajna Counselling Centre founder and director Prof Hilda Rayappan thanked all those who contributed towards making the project a reality.

Fit Institution for Girls was earlier functioning in a rented building at Marnamikatta in Mangaluru city.
