Govt to launch VMS facility in major cities

Speaking after inaugurating the first VMS facility in the country on Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road in City, the Minister added: “The VMS facility will also be extended in a phased manner to other major cities where traffic congestion is a big problem.”

The State government has earmarked Rs 14 crore to provide facilities at traffic police stations at all district head quarters to ensure road safety and smooth traffic flow. The government is committed to ensure road safety across the State, he added.

Road humps have been constructed on National Highways and State Highways violating norms. The minister had bitter experience due to badly designed humps on roads in Mysore, Mandya and Ramangara when he visited these cities recently. He directed deputy commissioners, Superintendents of Police and concerned engineers of Mysore, Mandya and Ramanagar districts to remove all road humps.
