Three die in Himachal in rain-related incidents

 Many parts of the country received rain on Friday, including Himachal Pradesh where three persons were killed in incidents of house collapse.

The national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season’s average, while the minimum was 27 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels oscillated between 60 and 78%.

As heavy rain lashed parts of Himachal Pradesh, around 140 roads, including 68 in Mandi circle, were closed due to landslides. In Shimla district’s Theog, two persons were killed and six injured when an HRTC building collapsed due to heavy rain, while in Kangra district, a woman died when her
kachha house collapsed.

Sarkaghat received 187 mm of rain in the past 24 hours and was the wettest in the region followed by Dharamshala 69 mm, Solan 55 mm and Shimla 45 mm of rainfall.

There was a marginal increase in maximum temperatures and Una was the hottest,  recording a high of 33.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Kangra (31.9 degrees Celsius), Bhuntar (31.2 degrees Celsius) and Sundernagar (30.5 degrees Celsius).

The maximum temperatures at most places in Haryana on Friday hovered below normal limits with Chandigarh, which received heavy showers on Thursday night, recording a high of 33.5 degrees Celsius.
However, the maximum temperatures at most places in Punjab hovered a notch or two above normal limits, the Met department said.

In Haryana, Ambala registered a maximum of 31.5 degrees Celsius, down two notches against normal, while Karnal recorded a high of 30.6 degrees Celsius. Amritsar in Punjab recorded a high of 35.4 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, while the mercury in Ludhiana and Patiala settled at 34.1 degrees Celsius and 32.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Light rain occurred at isolated places in Rajasthan till Friday morning since Thursday. However, there was no rain during the day on Friday.

In Bihar, Patna received 106.6 mm of rain, while Tribeni and Balmiki in West Champaran district recorded 30 cm of rainfall since Thursday.

Purnea recorded the highest maximum temperature of 32.8 degrees Celsius.
