The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday attached a senior IAS officer after his alleged objectionable pictures with some girls in a hotel room went viral on social media.

“Pending inquiry into his conduct, Niraj Kumar (Deputy Commissioner Udhampur) is hereby attached to the office of the Jammu divisional commissioner,” read an order issued by under secretary to the government Amrik Singh.

Arvind Sharma, Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, shall look after the work if the DC Udhampur till further orders, reads the order.

In the pictures, Kumar, a 2010-batch officer, is seen having objectionable relationship with the young women on the bed. Deccan Herald could not independently verify the veracity of the pictures. The deputy commissioner had switched off his phone and could not be contacted for his comments.
The netizens reacted sharply to the pictures by disapproving the action by “public authority.”
