BJP state executive to review Vistarak today

Last Updated 05 August 2017, 20:13 IST

Preparation for the Assembly polls and review of Vistarak (outreach) programme will be the main focal points of the day-long BJP state executive committee meeting scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on Sunday.

The meeting will also assess the political situation in the state and will serve as a platform to prepare for party national president Amit Shah’s three-day visit to the state beginning August 12. Under the Vistarak campaign, volunteers conducted door-to-door visits across the state to strike a rapport with voters. According to party sources, the I-T raids on Energy Minister D K Shivakumar, the Congress government reviving the state flag issue and also supporting a separate religion tag for Lingayat-Veerashaiva dharma, attacks on RSS and BJP functionaries are likely to figure in the meet.

BJP national general secretary in-charge of Karnataka P Muralidhar Rao, joint in-charge D Purandeshwari, state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa, Union Ministers Ananth Kumar and D V Sadananda Gowda and around 600 delegates will attend the meeting.

This apart, speaking at the BJP state office-bearers meeting held at Palace Grounds, Yeddyurappa said people of the state were fed up with the corrupt state government. “BJP workers should work hard in the next eight to nine months in order to bring the party to power.”

The government is planning to reopen cases against the BJP leaders by misusing the Anti Corruption Bureau. The ACB has been formed to protest the ministers and harass leaders of the Opposition parties. This is nothing but revenge politics for the I-T raids. But let me warn the chief minister. This move will boomerang on the Congress,” he stated.
