Bollywood's Mr Perfectionist and his wife Kiran Rao are down with Swine Flu.

Aamir Khan, who was to attend the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup awards - instituted by their NGO Paani Foundation,  had to skip the event held in Pune on Sunday evening - that was presided over by Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Bollywood Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan was present at the event - at the request of Aamir Khan.

Aamir Khan spoke at the event through a video conference link from his Mumbai residence. "..have contracted Swine Flu and skipping the event so that others do not contract the same," he said.

Film critic, writer and author Anupama Chopra, who was at the function, tweeted: "@aamir_khan & #kiranrao couldn't be here because of Swine Flu. So he requested @imsrk to come @satyamevjayate water cup #inspiration."

She also points out that it was an example of friendship day involving the two big Khans of Bollywood. "Big props to @iamsrk for being here! @aamir_khan said today is #friendshipday so he reached out to a friend & asked him to take his place."

The incidents of Swine Flu is on rise in Maharashtra towns and this monsoon more than 150 persons have fallen to the H1N1 infection. Since January more than 300 persons have died - including in Mumbai, Pune and Nashik.

Last week, senior Congress leader and former minority affairs minister Naseem Khan raised the issue of Swine Flu in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and pointed out to the shortage of medicines.

Maharashtra public health minister Dr Deepak Sawant has held a series of meetings over the last few months to constantly monitor the situation and ensure that the medicines are available.

Swine Flu was pandemic in 2009 but now it is considered normal human flu virus. It can spread as fast as normal seasonal flu.
